International Mastocytosis &
Mast Cell Disease Day
On this day each year, we raise awareness for mast cell diseases like mastocytosis and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), highlight their impact on patients, and encourage support for research and education.
Our hope is that by raising awareness of mast cell diseases, more people will recognize it, listen to patients, and develop effective treatments for it. Ultimately, we want to improve the lives of patients with mast cell disease and spare other families from feeling this pain.
Thank you to everyone who has rocked the ribbon, worn purple and white, done something kind in Alex's honor, taken a few minutes to learn about MCAS, or otherwise supported patients with MCAS. And thank you to everyone who has shared their photos with us! We love to see you!
Photos can be sent to or shared with AlexandriaDixonFamily@gmail.com.
Thank you to our dear friend, Gala Damato, who has hand-crafted nearly 1,000 awareness ribbons. Thank you, Gala!!
September 30, 2025 - Honor Alexandria Day
Remembering our sweet Alexandria Margarite Dixon today.
At 3:55 PM ET (and every year going forward), our family will observe a moment of silence to commemorate her final heartbeat.
If she touched your life, we invite you to join us wherever you are. Instead of just sadness, let's honor the 27 years of joy and inspiration she gave us.
Alexandria's Challenge: On her behalf, go out and give a little joy today! Extend a smile, a laugh, or maybe even a balloon to someone who needs it. Let's make the world a little brighter for her.
- Jeff & Michele Dixon
It's been a year since I held your hand and I can still feel your little palm against mine. I am always thinking of you, your laugh, and what you would say. We miss you so deeply. I know that one day, we will be together again. For now, I see signs of you all around. We love you, Alexandria Dixon. You are my best friend and the best sister anyone could ever have. Always and forever.

September 18, 2025 - Alexandria Dixon Ice Cream Social
At the SAP Reston Office, colleagues from across the company gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of a remarkable leader in the SAP community, Alexandria Dixon. Alexandria led the DMV Events Team for several years and, in that time, introduced this outdoor games event complete with treats, prizes, and lots of fun.
This event celebrates Alexandria's exceptional contributions and her inspiring leadership of the DMV events team. Alexandria was a strong champion for the power of community, inclusivity, and generosity. The SAP DMV Events Team is dedicated to perpetuating her legacy of compassion and advocacy.
Attendees connected with colleagues, enjoyed Moo Thru ice cream, and played outdoor games like lawn darts, cornhole, and ladderball. SAP merchandise was raffled off every 15 minutes, just as Alexandria had planned it.
Thank you to Pete Seigman, Melissa Albert, Liz Krell, Sam Rudolph, Darren Sapper, and Chih-Hao Ho for celebrating Alexandria through this event and for keeping her in your hearts.
And thank you for allowing us to be a part of this special event.

February 28, 2025 - Rare Disease Day
Rare Disease Day takes place on the last day of February. The objective of this day is to come together and raise awareness both within the general public as well as among decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients’ lives.
This year, we created cards with mast cell disease awareness ribbons attached to aid in our advocacy efforts.

The Alexandria Dixon 2025 TMS Challenge Grant, Rocket Community Challenge
With the support of family, friends, and colleagues, we were able to contribute $5,000 in Alexandria's honor to The Mast Cell Disease Society (TMS) as part of the Rocket Community Challenge.
$2,500 of that amount were matching funds from Jeff, Michele, and Victoria Dixon. In total, the month-long campaign raised $27,250 for TMS. Thank you to everyone who donated via the Rocket Community Challenge in Alexandria's name and helped us reach our goal.
January 17, 2025 - Celebrating Alexandria's 28th Birthday
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating Alexandria Dixon's birthday. This year, our beautiful girl would have turned 28. To share stories and honor the joy Alex brought to us and so many others, we came together with lots of decorations, food, games, and - of course - balloons. 💖
We chose the Barbie theme for several reasons. Alex really enjoyed the Barbie movie, its empowering messages for women, and the fun of it all. It was a movie we got to see in theaters together and it became a theme for Alex as she earned her MBA, made strides in her professional career, and moved into her own apartment. Mattel's slogan for Barbie is "You Can Be Anything." Alexandria not only believed in this idea, but embodied it.
Thank you to our parents, Jeff Jay Dixon and Michele Dixon, for bringing people together to celebrate our girl. Thank you, Dad for pulling together a video we could share with attendees capturing some of our memories and Alexandria's insight. Thank you, Mom for doing such a wonderful job coordinating and hosting the event.
Thank you to Jackie Liebler, Betsy Terry, and the Revolution Golf and Grille team for welcoming us back and taking such great care of us. Thank you, Jonathan Lunenfeld, for coming down, helping to inflate and tie so many balloons, setup/cleanup, and capture photos/videos from the event. Thank you, Mom, Dad, Jon, Spencer Chaplain, Russ Cake, Betty Lynn Junkins, Amy Rose, and Melanie Montas for helping to set up the space and decorations. I think it turned out beautifully and Alexandria would have loved it.
Thank you also to everyone who has reached out with their support. We appreciate you keeping Alexandria in your hearts and minds.
This Barbie misses her sister very much. I hope she knows how much she is loved and appreciated.

There are three primary ways we are working to build upon Alexandria's legacy: Supporting Ferrum College, contributing to the success of The Mast Cell Disease Society (TMS), and empowering women to excel in their careers.

The Alexandria Dixon Outstanding Student in Management Award, Ferrum College
As a graduating senior, Alexandria was named the 2019 recipient of the Management Award at Ferrum College. In her honor, Ferrum College named this award after Alexandria and seeks to celebrate students who exemplify the qualities Alexandria displayed at Ferrum College and beyond.
On April 16, 2025, The Alexandria Dixon Outstanding Student in Management Award was awarded to Heather Whitlow, '25. Provost Delia Heck delivered remarks and shared a bit about Alexandria's impact with attendees.

The Alexandria Dixon MBA Scholarship for Women at SAP in partnership with the Quantic School of Business & Technology
SAP employees are striving to finish Alexandria's work in establishing an MBA scholarship for women in STEM.
There are of course many other ways to extend the reach of Alexandria's impact.
The following suggestions are from the Dixon family and their memories of Alex.
Show your appreciation.
In her five years at SAP, Alexandria sent more than 800 personalized thank you notes to her colleagues. She took every opportunity to share her appreciation for those who made a difference in her life. In Alexandria's honor, take a few minutes to share your gratitude with someone who has made a difference in your life.
Celebrate everything.
Alexandria was our holiday girl. She celebrated any and every holiday, and made the most of it! Balloons, treats, decorations, and custom signs were just the start of her party planning. In Alexandria's honor, bring people together to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, Flag Day, whatever!
Share some goldfish.
As a little girl, Alexandria would bring goldfish to soccer practices and playgrounds as a way to make friends. She used to tell us: "Goldfish make friends." In Alexandria's honor, share goldfish with someone today and make a new friend.
